Tom Kay

I have been a high level athlete and a couch potato. After playing college football, I kind of took a break from fitness…for 15 years.  I got soft, put on weight and all my numbers were “bad,” high blood pressure, cholesterol, and pre-diabetic. I started running and going to the gym. I lost some weight and got healthier but I was also getting bored. A friend introduced me to Crossfit in a backyard workout. I attempted to do a 10 min AMRAP of 10 push ups and 10 pull ups. I couldn’t believe how challenging it was. I was hooked. 10 years later, I have been able to stay healthy and keep the weight off. In Crossfit, I found the things that I loved about football, things like: hard work, camaraderie, encouragement and participating in something bigger than myself. I have been coaching since 2010. In that time I have coached elite athletes, soccer moms and grand-dads, first responders and special forces soldiers and everyone in between. It is an absolute joy and privilege to be able to help people get their first pull up or hit a #300 clean PR.
When not at the gym, I help pastor Crossroads Community Church in Trumbull. I have two boys, Jared 16 and Jake 19, and two bull dogs. My amazing wife of 23 years, Gail, somehow manages to endure the chaos that is our house with a smile and a ton of grace and patience.
