Ok so its mid February…..
Did you made any new year promises or resolutions or list of to do’s?
Are you still working on them or have they gone by the wayside?
WHY have you either been sticking to your plan or what got in the way?
Setting goals is not easy. Following up with them is even harder. In a day and age when everything is right at our fingertips and we have become to expect immediate answers, feedback and results, the reality of it is…that isn’t real life! Change takes time, persistence, and dedication. There are no quick fixes. We so often also tend to look outside and blame others, and our current circumstances for failure to follow through. Most of us have a lack of introspection. Its much easier to blame others rather than ourselves for our shortcomings than to take accountability.
There is a correct way to set a SMART goal. It not only needs to be stated clearly in a SMART way but then you need to also make a plan to follow through.
A SMART goal is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevent, and Time-based,
Bad example: “I am going to loose weight this year”
Good example: “I am going to loose a half a pound a week for the next 6 weeks”.
The plan: I am going to the gym Monday, Wednesdy, and Friday at 4:30pm. I am going to pack my bag every Sunday night.
I am going to stop eating after 7:00pm.
I am going to drink 8 glasses of water per day.
I am happy to report I have continued and am still working on my goal. I wrote one thing down this year…..just one. That is my focus, my determination, my drive. It will NOT happen overnight but it will happen because my #1 on my plan is simple…. not to let anything interfere with my plan!! If you are keeping up…bravo to you too!!
