Mindset – a mental attitude or inclination.

People with a fixed mindset believe that these qualities are inborn, fixed, and unchangeable.; Those with a growth mindset, on the other hand, believe that these abilities can be developed and strengthened by way of commitment and hard work.

A mindset is a belief that orients the way we handle situations—the way we sort out what is going on and what we should do. Our mindsets help us spot opportunities, but they can also trap us in self-defeating cycles.

One question can determine your mindset: answer this, without thinking

Half empty or half full?

This answer can be a great indicator on how you perceive your world, how you interact with it, and how you deal with it. Let’s go even further. Our mindset isn’t just the way we look at the world. They are beliefs that orient our reactions and tendencies. They let us frame situations: they direct our attention to the most important cues, so that we’re not overwhelmed with information. They suggest sensible goals so that we know what we should be trying to achieve. They prime us with reasonable courses of action so that we don’t have to puzzle out what to do. When our mindsets become habitual, they define who we are, and who we can become. BUT can you change your mindset if it tends to be negative?

Go back to the beginning. If you have a growth mindset then yes, with hard work and perseverance you can. You see mistakes as mistakes and take ownership of them and evaluate and reassess. You learn from them and move on. You don’t make excuses, or believe them to be absolute. With a growth mindset, you welcome failure, because you see it as an opportunity to grow. You actively choose to be happier, more open, and fluid. A fixed mindset wont ever believe anything other than what has happened, will always happen, as opposed to the person with a growth mindset who can move past.

You come to the gym. You work hard. You have goals. BUT do you have the right mindset to really reach your potential or are your previous beliefs holding you back? And that question can be asked outside the gym as well.

Change a negative mindset; change your life; physically, mentally, emotionally.
