January MOM – Kate Hathaway

Posted on 03-03-2019 by KJ in CFM

Kate is a regular at the 5:30am class. When Kate first started she was a little intimidated by the bar and now she embraces the chance to throw some weight around!  She is doing awesome!! Read a little  more about Kate!
1. How long have you been crossfitting?
I think it has been  a little over a year and a half.

2. How long have you been a member of CFSP?
Same time as above – CFSP was my first experience with CrossFit!
3. What made you walk through the door?.
Honestly, the convenience. It is located right across my from work, and when I started I didn’t have a car so the location was key.
4. What’s your motivation.. what’s your why for continuing this journey?
I’ve tried a lot of different workouts, and CrossFit is the first program where I have really seen a physical change in my body and how strong I am. I also love my 5:30am class – I always look forward to the mornings I workout with them.
5. What does your diet look like?
I try and eat pretty healthy – I do meal prep on Sundays so I can bring lunch for the week. I have a killer sweet tooth though… sugar is my weakness.
6. What is your favorite movement or work out?
We have been doing cleans for a while and I am starting to enjoy them now that I am more comfortable with the bar.
7. What is your least favorite movement or work out?
Anything that is overhead – overhead squats, split jerks…
8.  Goals??  3 months, 6 months, one year from now?
I had a toes to bar break through recently, so I’d like to be able to do real consecutive toes to bar in the next 3 months. I’d also like to do consecutive double unders… and of course a pull up! I think I can do most of those in the next 3-6 months.
9. Tell us about Kate, outside the box?
I’m not very exciting… I love consignment shopping and going to tag sales to find cool art. I also like to travel and just booked a trip to Colombia in July.
10. One piece of advice you would tell a newbie?
Don’t be intimidated! And stick with it. I was terrified of the barbell when I started, but now I actually enjoy it and am much more comfortable.
Anything else we should know??
Coach Dan is great! I really appreciate his attention to detail – he can zero in on things you can modify that have a big impact. He also has a great sense of humor -even at 5:30am.
