Good Morning CFSP!!
One of the things we would like to do here is a monthly series of clinics touching different topics surrounding your health. While most other gyms charge for these types of things..These will all be free for members!! The awesome relationships we have established being in the CrossFit field over the past few years has really taught us that working out is just one part of the program. There are so many other facets to health that people tend to forget about such as nutrition, sleep, mobility, flexibility, and massage, just to name a few. I am gulity too!! But we really do encourage you to take a holistic approach to your health. I know I feel best when everything is on point!! I know what that feels like and I also know when I have let some of it slip!! One of my personal goals this year is to get back on track with this holistic approach!! I am not going to be ok with the mentality “I worked out 4 times this week, so it was a good week” when I didn’t go to bed on time, drink the right amount of water, or eat when and how I was supposed to. And like everyone, I too need to be accountable and reminded how from time to time!!
Our first talk will be from nutritionist Amy Plano. Sunday March 5th 10:15am!! Lite, healthy refreshments too, so come work out at 9:15 with me and stay to listen to Amy!!
There is so much more to nutrition than just putting good things in your body. It is a science, and not only what, but when and how are just as important!! I have worked with Amy both on a professional and personal level! She is awesome and takes very scientific based approach to nutrition, and she is a kick ass crossfitter!!
Here is a short bio…
Amy Plano is a registered dietitian, author, wife, foodie, super cool professor and well-known sports nutrition expert. She is a registered dietitian (RD) and licensed in the state of Connecticut (CDN). Amy holds a Certification in both Adult and Pediatric Weight Management through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She has also earned the coveted credential of being a board certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD).
For over a decade, Amy has been working with a wide variety of athletes. Amy provides individual and group/team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the performance of competitive and recreational athletes. By translating the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations, Amy is able to design the most cutting edge dietary interventions. Through her research and clinical work, Amy has learned what works and what does not work.
Amy currently works at the University of New Haven as a professor of nutrition and dietetics. In addition, she also serves as adjunct faculty for Quinnipiac University. Amy has a thriving Private Practice in Orange, CT. In addition to athletes, she services a wide variety of patients with various struggles including: weight loss/obesity, eating disorders, diabetes, heart disease, food allergies and fertility issues.
