Ian is an integral part of our CFSP community, a constant support at all of our events and fundraisers and socials. He is extremely welcoming to new members. Takes coaching extremely well . His incredible work ethic has allowed him to push himself to new levels and we can definitely understand why he is so successful outside of the box as well. As member of the month would you mind answering the following questions when you get a chance!!
1.How Long have you been CrossFitting?
Almost 4 years

Almost from the beginning
3. What made you walk through the door?.
I was living then 4 blocks away and wanted to see what the community was like
4. Whats your motivation.. whats your why for continuing this journey?
I started CrossFit as a way to bond with my son, but now it’s the joy of kicking up into a hand stand for the first time or front squatting my body weight that motivates me. And so motivating to do this with my beloved spouse, Jennifer. A couple of years ago, I never would have guessed that my spouse would call to at 8:01 pm “Oh goodie, bench press tomorrow.”
5. What does your diet look like?
Because of Crossfit, I’m now eating a lot more fruit. I blend it into smoothies with soylent. Super yummy. I’m eating healthier until evening when I’m not especially paleo.
6. What is your favorite movement or work out?
It feels so good to climb a rope for the first time in my fifties.
7. What is your least favorite movement or work out?
Turkish get ups, wall balls, one-leg Romanian deadlifts!
8. Goals?? 3 months, 6 months, one year from now?
Before the next open, I want to get my first kipping pullup, my first hand stand push up, and my first string of double unders.
9. Tell us about Ian, outside the box?
I’m a lawyer and economist who teaches contracts and intellectual property at Yale. I’ve co-founded a commitment website (www.stickK.com) where people have put more than $30 million at risk to stick to their goals – like going to the gym or losing weight. I’ve even written a diet booklet. Currently, my research concerns gun control and sexual assault reporting.
10. One piece of advice you would tell a newbie?
Keep your lower back flat.
