One of the best charities that we have come across over the past 7 years in the world of CF is an organization called Barbells For Boobs.. They started as a small non profit with a vision of helping under and non insured people, men and women, pay for life saving screenings that maybe their insurance won’t cover because they “aren’t at risk” or “to young”.

Coach Megan is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed “early” and had to fight to even get  testing done, and had to pay out of pocket for testing, and some treatment!! She has also been instrumental in raising over $50,000 over the past few years for this organization. This year she will travel to different CF affiliates and spread the word about the organization and get teams set up to fundraise for the cause!! All of the money raised in a state, stays in the state!!

On July 14th she will be here to spread the knowledge about the organization and how you too can be involved and to just educate the masses!! We will be doing an official fundraiser in October.. Grace!! Its an awesome day for an awesome cause!! Please read below and clink on the link provided to learn more!!

Why Barbells? (taken from their site)

The Barbell represents a commitment to health and wellness. It’s a lifestyle. It’s loud. It’s disruptive. It’s a movement.

Health encompasses nutrition and exercise, the only proven way to reduce the risk of cancer. Wellness means advocating for yourself by taking action because no one is immune to chronic disease.

The Barbell also represents a weight being lifted. It represents peace-of-mind.

Through the support of our Programs we’ve impacted over 1,000,000 people and counting, in the form of access to procedures, navigation, connections, and support.

We think of ourselves as more than a non-profit, we’re affecting long-term social change. We’re unorthodox (the word Boobs is in our name) and challenging the status quo. We’re about action, we’re about being proactive, and we’re about raising the bar.

Together with one unified voice, we can make a difference.

1 out of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, 7% will be under the age of 40. No one is Immune to breast cancer.
